The late Benedictine Archbishop of Westminster, Basil Cardinal Hume wrote: " . . . Our Lord took bread and changed it into his body, took wine and changed it into his blood. That truth requires humility of us . . . humility of mind whereby we acknowledge in truth that what was once bread is now his body, what was once wine is now his blood."
Shortly after we receive the Sacred Body and Blood of Our Lord, we will carry the Blessed Sacrament in procession through the church and choir and then place it on the altar of repose where we will adore it.
And so we commemorate that Jesus led our exodus from the shadow of death into the light of eternal life.
