In Warrnambool

The drive to Melbourne last Friday took 11 1/2 hours.  Rush hour traffic in the city (we arrived at the absolute pinnacle of rush hour) rivals D.C.  However, the Jesuit community welcomed us warmly, fed us extremely well and had some wine on hand for frazzled nerves.  The three of us left early the next morning with Warrnambool the first stop, Hamilton the second and Millicent the third.  Only three hours away Warrnambool seemed like a trip around the block.

Warrnambool is a large town of about 33,000 that is self-sufficient.  I was able to buy a new pair of jeans, exactly what I wanted, with no effort.  St. Joseph's Church is right downtown and a short walk to the shops.  Haven't ventured down to the ocean yet.  Yesterday was rainy and today was the day to meet half the retreatants with the others coming tomorrow.  The structure of the Retreat in Daily Life is to meet with each retreatant twice weekly.  With twelve retreatants that makes 24 meetings a week which are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Wednesday is a day off.  I've been able to celebrate several Masses and will help out with the parish whenever I can.

No photos yet.  Took some test shots in the church today and will return with the tripod to do some heavy duty photography of a beautiful church over the next days.

Internet access not the best but will have to make do.
